REACH Niagara is celebrating our team of physicians who work across the organization’s 14 clinic locations. Physicians at REACH Niagara play an important role in multidisciplinary teams that operate in unique circumstances, providing care directly in the community to vulnerable populations, including those who are unhoused, precariously employed, and experiencing substance use.
“On this International Physicians Day, I want to thank the incredible team of physicians that works in our REACH clinics. As the medical lead, I am inspired every day by their dedication to the patients that come to our clinics and to the support that they provide in some of the most difficult of life circumstances,” says Dr. Kim Bender, REACH Niagara Medical Director. “Our physicians care…about the patients, our community, our team and each other…and it makes us all stronger and wiser as we learn from each other. I am so thankful to be part of this incredible group of professionals. Thank you for all you do!”
Physicians at REACH Niagara often note the ability to see more immediate outcomes in their clients as one of the most rewarding aspects of their work. Supported by a strong, collaborative team, they are able to focus on delivering high-quality care while administrative functions are seamlessly managed.
“Working at Birchway Niagara with REACH Niagara has been a meaningful part of my medical practice. I meet women and children at a difficult time in their journeys and hear their stories of survival. Seeing the supports and services offered through REACH and Birchway demonstrates that the community cares for these people in real and tangible ways, and it is rewarding to see them make difficult decisions with support, find new housing, provide for their children, and attend to their own health,” says Dr. Amanda Bell, Physician with REACH Niagara.
“REACH Niagara is a front-line care provider meeting people where they are with a dedicated team of caring and skilled professionals, and I am humbled and grateful to be able to be a small part of that team.”
“I think that working with REACH is so enriching. To be able to work with such an incredible team to try and offer help and support to our clients and patients. It is so rewarding to make even a small difference to those we serve,” says Dr. Kathy Swayze.
REACH makes healthcare more accessible to reduce calls to emergency services, increase connections to supports, and improve the overall well-being of the community. In addition to primary care, REACH clinics offer clinical counselling and system navigation, providing a holistic approach to care.
REACH Niagara relies on the generosity of grants, community donations, and in-kind support from local partners to sustain its services. Community members are invited to contribute through one-time or monthly donations, helping to strengthen access to essential healthcare close to home across Niagara: https://reachniagara.com/donate/
