No Barriers November

Your generous donations will help REACH Niagara increase access to healthcare for those experiencing homelessness in Niagara.

This month is No Barriers November, and we are asking for your support to help put healthcare within ‘REACH’ for those experiencing homelessness in Niagara.

Background

There are 50,000+ people living below the low-income measure at any given time in Niagara. Even with existing community supports, thousands of people still face barriers to accessing healthcare.

REACH Niagara’s mission is to remove these barriers by providing care at regularly-scheduled times in shelters across the region, as well as in the community on the innovative Mobile Health Clinic, powered by TELUS Health.

The No Barriers November campaign begins Tuesday, November 1, and will end on Giving Tuesday, an internationally recognized day of giving, November 29.

Our Goal

We are raising $10,000 to support our mission of providing healthcare and other necessities to our clients. Funds raised will go towards:

  • Medical equipment and supplies
  • Healthcare services
  • Transportation supports
  • Water, personal hygiene products, and other necessities

The Impact

Since its inception in 2018, REACH has had more than 4,000 patient interactions, providing trauma-informed, primary medical treatments, mental health services, and addiction support to those who need it most.

“The healthcare outreach initiatives that are occurring in the Niagara Region are a fantastic model to reduce such barriers for disadvantaged populations. As a nurse practitioner providing primary care services on the REACH Mobile Health Clinic outreach van, I have seen firsthand the positive impact pro-active health outreach can make for both individuals and communities.”
