REACH Niagara is shining a light on the nurses who provide healthcare at our clinics across Niagara. Nurse Practitioners working with REACH provide compassionate, judgment-free care to community members who are homeless or have unstable housing.

Health issues are often amplified by homelessness due to the lack of access to basic wellness needs such as nutritional food, exposure to extreme weather, and the difficulty in maintaining hygiene routines.

“The people we see oftentimes don’t trust healthcare professionals due to past experiences in their life and in the healthcare system,” says Carolyn Dyer, REACH Niagara Executive Director. “Not only do the nurses at our clinics provide exceptional healthcare, they also build trusting relationships with patients, which increases the chances of positive health outcomes.”

The theme this year is Our Nurses. Our Future. This theme showcases the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s healthcare journey.

REACH Niagara clinics are done in partnership with shelters, social service organizations, and other healthcare providers throughout the region. By coming together, we’re able to provide healthcare to those who need it most.

Join us in thanking our nurses this week for their countless contributions!
